Overview
Selank is a synthetic peptide combining tuftsin with additional amino acids for stability. Developed in Russia as an anxiolytic with nootropic properties, distinct from benzodiazepines.
Mechanism of Action
Modulates GABA-A receptors, increases BDNF, affects serotonin and dopamine systems. Also has immunomodulatory effects through tuftsin activity. No sedation or dependence.
Pharmacokinetics
Intranasal administration for CNS effects. Short plasma half-life but sustained neural effects. Immunomodulatory effects may persist longer.
